Stephen Harper? Steven Schmarper

I really can't stand Stephen Harper. If you take out all the crap about secret plans, rigid traditionalism, and hurricane-proof hair, he's still the second worst candidate for Prime Minister (the first, obviously, being Monsieur Duceppe*).

The irony in his most recent statement about the Liberal's 'unholy' alliance with the Bloc is a little too much to bear. What really bothers me about Mr. Harper though, above all else, is his complete and utter lack of hug-a-bility. I want a charismatic leader that stands up for what s/he believes in and isn't afraid to walk the walk. Someone that mothers will pass their babies to, children will idolize, and other national leaders will envy for the attachment s/he has with the public body.

Is it too much to ask for our Prime Minister to be a person you'd both want to govern the country and have over for dinner?

I had meant to talk here about the issue of non-heterosexual marriage but got too side-tracked. If you're interested, let me know.

*NB. If you take away the fact that Duceppe's national politics don't really include Canada as a whole nation, there's not much else I don't like. At least he's direct with his ideas, I just don't agree with them.

  • The only reason you can attack his personality is because you can't attack his platform.

How can you sit there and take pot-shots at a guy who's trying to help Canada? Quit being part of the problem and try taking a shot at siding with the solution.
